I tried to go to work

Made it round to the station. Bought my weekly season. Sat and waited for a train and listened to the announcments of the ever-later estimate of its arrival. Eventually they said "we advise you not to travel today". The way in was do-able if I'd carried on waiting, but the forecast of more snow this afternoon meant they reckoned they'd be running next to no service, so anyone who made it in might not make it home again today.
No problem thinks I - I have plenty of work reading to do, some writing and I can keep tabs on the emails. First email I see is the one form the VC saying he's closing the place at lunchtime so that those who did make it in can get home ok. Vindicated!
