1) Do you have a single predominant "hero"?
There have been many. They change from time to time.
2) Who, and why?
Today I'd say Cyrano de Bergerac, tomorrow you'd most likely get a different answer.
Why Cyrano? The combination of poet, playwright, swordsman, tragic romantic.
3) What was the last serious non-fiction book you read?
I'm in the middle of two or three on medieval history.
4) Would you recommend it to others?
If you're interested in the subject, The Medieval Spains, Bernard Reilly.

BBC Online, Guardian Online, Radio 4
19) In a fight between a giant squid and a sperm whale, who'd win?
I think sperm whales are largely placid creatures, so probably the squid.

That's my second or third answer to the question, trying to find a deslewed version.

yourself? pragmatic, idealist, cynical, realist, optimist, doubter
Optimist, though pragmatist comes close as well.
