It now seems that Seat's withdrawal from the BTCC earlier in the Autumn was an early indicator. After Honda's withdrawal from F1 a couple of weeks ago, there were various mutterings that more would follow.
It's not more from F1 at present, but the past two days have seen two announcements that manufacturers are leaving the World Rally Championship. Suzuki wasn't really a surprise, but the news that Subaru are going is big. I really hope (as I do with Honda) that somebody can be found to run Scoobies as more or less a works team. It would be a real shame not to see them competing. There's also the question of what Petter Solberg does. It's widely (and almost certainly correctly) reported that he's been unhappy with the car not being competitive enough and may have been considering options. This might persuade him to seriously look elsewhere if he's not already doing so. It's hard though, to see where he might go that woulde be better for him. So much too for Guy Wilks' chances of getting into the third car they were planning to run, which is more than a bit of a bugger.
