Over the past two weeks (since the last wedding planning entry), [livejournal.com profile] pennyanne and I have sorted several more things.

The dress quest is, I'm told, nearly complete. Penny spent last Saturday week doing more searching round her Mum's. She's going out with the Bristol girlies on Hallowe'en to have a look at shops round here (to make sure there's nothing that screamms "I'm the one" at her), before going back for another look at a couple of frocks she likes in Chadwell Heath/Romford and ordering one of them.

On that Sunday we met up with our friend Lucy, who's doing the invites as a present for us and agreed the design. Guests not only get to come and celebrate with us, but will have a numberd Lucy Hughes limited edition woodcut.

This Saturday we bought the fabric for the bridesmaids' dresses, ordered the nice brocade for lining frockcoats and making waistcoats. We've asked Anne Farnsworth of The Historical Costume Company to make the frockcoats. Measurements and delivery of material to take place at the Re-enactor's Market at the end of November.

A visit to a local wedding fair yesterday gave us a few ideas for incidentals and we've more or less finalised the guest list. All the planning guides we've looked at suggest that we're currently ahead of the game. Just need to keep it that way.

When I was searching for my wedding dress I walked into one shop, tried 3 dresses on and ended up with the first one. The whole process of choosing took about 8 minutes ;-) Catherine Oliver, Clifton - absolutely brilliant! It's made-to-measure though not off-the-peg, so it's a teeny bit more expensive, but not much.

The Historical Costume Company made the jacket I wore to Omega as Cornelius with the split sleeves. I would expect what they produce to be of a very high standard. Sounds like it is going to rock.

Sorry I didn't return your call - I was in South Wales. I will ring you in the week once my voice is back. Am ok for going to Ren Fayre I think but I am still shrinking.

I hate to through another suggestion into the works :-)
Amanda, Harry's wife is great at commission pieces.
She did the Elizabethan corset for my wedding and a matching waist coat for Ric. She also made her own wedding dress, which I'm sure they'll show you piccies.
Her prices are very good to (compared to "real" wedding dresses.
