.. and a half bottle still to go.

We have an offer of the asking price on the flat. Loud Huzzahs! and hence the opening of one of my birthday presents.

House details
So far it's been drunk straight and with the addition of Archers (me) and of Celtic Country Wines' Black Cherry Liqueur ([livejournal.com profile] pennyanne). Martni Royale's to finish the bottle in a little while I think.
The lady wanting the flat is a friend of the Patsy who lives upstairs and Jackie who owns upstairs. I think this one is fairly firm. Only slight problem is that she's got a house to sell in Easton. We're waiting currently on Bovis deciding whether they'll take the flat as part exchange on one of the town houses in their development in Horfield. We then decide whether to take them up on it and let them sell on to our buyer or to look around at what's come up back in our original search area of Bradley Stoke.

Pen's spent most of the evening recording a tape that will be the basis of the wedding reception "metal hour", which will be inflicted upon [livejournal.com profile] eldelphia on the trip up to the Nottingham area tomorrow.

I'm about to inflict a selection of my musical taste on her in revenge. Not being in possession of an mp3 player a random 10 from these will do for the latest virus, though as Pen points out, it's not exactly a random selection.

Christy Moore The Night Visit
From Voyage, it's a rocked up version of a traditional Irish song I first heard on the Planxty album The Well Below the Valley

K'Passa Love's Trainee Part II
From their compilation The Morning After, one of Bristol's best live bands at their bounciest. Fairly heavy rock, fuelled by fiddle and accordion. Cajun Rock is the closest I've heard as a description. Blinding live - see them if you get the chance.

XTC Senses Working Overtime
Swindon's finest. From English Settlement Pen says it sounds like The Jam.

The Jeff Healey Band See the Light
Fantastic piece of Canadian guitar rock, from a guy billed at the time (late 80s) as Clapton's heir. No idea what he's up to now.

Blackstone Edge Will Davey
A band I first heard at two friends' wedding some years' ago. The marriage didn't last, my liking for the music has. English folk, "complete with wailing bint", this one's from Minstrels.

Led Zeppelin The Battle of Evermore
Just because...

Sarah McLachlan Possession
First heard in instrumental version in the much-missed Due South. Melodic, haunting and a fantastic voice, this was one of those tracks that forces you to go in search of the album - Fumbling Towards Ecstasy

Paul Simon Crazy Love Pt II from the essential Graceland, an album that's been soundtrack to some significant parts of my life.

Lynyrd Skynyrd Gimme Three Steps More
Off the soundtrack for another excellent and much missed piece of drama from across the Atlantic, Northern Exposure. This one reminds me of that show and has an energy and freedom about it that's just infectious. "In your dreams, Fleischman!"

Joe Jackson (well, there had to be one didn't there, seeing as I'm choosing).
This is the version of Is She Really Going Out With Him that's on the recent live album Two Rainy Nights

Woo Hoo.

Having had it inflicted upon me I say 'Huzzah!' and 'Hurrah'! Altho' that may have somewhat to do with the Bacardi breezers you saw me drink and the cocktails you didn;t! Lovely day :)
